About us

OUR STORY & ORIGINS

Founded in 1992 in Chandel District, Manipur, Women Farmers Welfare Organization is a registered voluntary society dedicated to uplifting vulnerable rural and tribal populations. We work at the intersection of grassroots action, administrative policy, and community empowerment to build a self-sufficient, inclusive society.

Many of our children have successfully completed their education, pursued higher studies, and are now building independent and meaningful lives.

Born Out of Social Responsibility

The Women Farmers Welfare Organization was conceived by a group of socially sensitive individuals from diverse backgrounds who shared a single vision: to stand with the most vulnerable sections of society and tackle the root causes of their marginalization. What began as a localized effort in Tampi Village has expanded into a multi-faceted developmental hub. Over three decades, we have built a deep-rooted understanding of community-based rehabilitation, rural economics, child rights, and gender equality. We bridge the gap between grassroots community needs and policy-makers, legislators, and government agencies to bring meaningful, lasting resources to the people who need them most.

Our Vision

An equitable society where women, children, elders, persons with disabilities, and marginalized rural communities lead self-reliant lives with dignity, economic security, and equal opportunity.

Our Mission

To empower vulnerable communities across Manipur through market-oriented skill development, sustainable agricultural and livestock practices, comprehensive rehabilitation, child protection, elder care, and compassionate community interventions.

OUR CORE VALUES

  • Inclusivity & Dignity: We put women, children, elderly citizens, and persons with disabilities at the center of our development model.

  • Grassroots Empowerment: We believe true development comes from within communities by giving people the tools, skills, and confidence to succeed.

  • Transparency & Collaboration: We maintain high standards of organizational governance, working alongside administrative bodies, corporate partners, and local leaders.

  • Compassion for All Life: Our commitment extends beyond human welfare to include the humane treatment and protection of animals.
